Frequently Asked Questions

The questions asked most
before surgery

These are the questions common to all procedures. Procedure-specific questions are answered at the end of each treatment page.

How many consultations do I need before deciding?

At least one face-to-face examination is essential. Most patients decide after an initial conversation (by phone or video) and one examination. If you are unsure, do not hesitate to ask for a second meeting: decisions made in haste are the most common cause of regret.

How long before surgery must I stop smoking?

You are asked to stop at least 3 weeks before surgery and not to start again until at least 3 weeks after. Smoking reduces blood flow to the tissues and is the single most important cause of wound healing problems and skin loss. It is particularly critical for tummy tuck, facelift and breast lift surgery.

What tests are required?

Usually a full blood count, blood group, biochemistry, clotting tests, hepatitis and HIV screening, an ECG and, if needed, a chest X-ray. For patients over forty or with other conditions the anaesthetist may request further assessment.

Do I need to stop my medication?

Blood thinners, aspirin, certain herbal supplements and painkillers increase the risk of bleeding and are usually stopped 7 – 10 days beforehand. But do not stop anything on your own: tell us at your consultation about every medicine you take regularly.

When can I return to sport?

Light walking is generally allowed and encouraged from day one. Cardio is permitted at around 3 – 4 weeks and weight training at around 6 – 8 weeks. The timing varies by procedure and is stated on each treatment page.

Can I have two procedures in the same operation?

This is done frequently (for example a tummy tuck with liposuction, or a facelift with eyelid surgery). However, total operating time and anaesthetic load must not exceed certain limits. Which combination is safe is determined at your consultation according to your health.

I am travelling from abroad. How long should I stay?

It varies by procedure but 7 – 10 days is usually advised: surgery, first review, removal of sutures or splint, and clearance to fly. A check-up is always performed before you travel. The process can be planned in advance by video consultation.

Do I have to attend the follow-up appointments?

Yes. Reviews at one week, one month, three months and one year directly affect the quality of the result. For patients living abroad, follow-up can continue by video.

Why are there no prices on the website?

Turkish regulations on advertising in healthcare restrict the publication of prices and promotions. In addition, every patient’s plan is different, so a realistic figure can only be given after an examination.

Why are there no before-and-after photographs?

The same regulations also restrict publishing such images in healthcare. During your consultation, cases for which patient consent has been obtained can be shown to you in the clinic.
